The Glacial Lakes Humane Society and Shelter opened in February 1977.
As a 501(c)3 Non-Profit organization, we rely on the generosity of individuals and businesses in our community for volunteers donating time and supplies, and for funding through monetary donations and fundraisers. We do not receive any contracted or regular public funding from the city, county or state.
We accept adoptable pets from the Watertown, SD area including approximately 70 mile surrounding radius. We also house animals brought in by Watertown, SD animal control and assist with local animal control calls.
Most importantly, we love and care for the homeless pets in our area, providing shelter, food, warmth, strictly necessary medical care, exercise and attention. We strive to match the most suitable pets with potential adopters to secure them a "fur-ever" home. We tend to have a wide variety of adoptable pets, so most adopters will easily find a good pet match.
